A downloadable game for Windows

General info

This game is a zombie shooter in Beta phase, WASD for movement shift for sprint. space or left click to shoot and point to aim. The goal is to kill all zombies as quickly as possible, as if you don't kill them they will over run and kill you. You have a health bar in the bottom left,  and in the top left a kill counter with how many kills you need to advance to the next wave. You win the game after you get 80 kills. Zombies spawn more quickly as you advance to the next wave, so make sure to stock as many bullets as possible in the early game.  You have 2 guns: the pistol and the shotgun. By pressing the 1 key the pistol will appear, and the 2 key will make the shotgun appear. It takes 2 shots to kill a zombie with a pistol and 1 shot with a shotgun. The downside of the shotgun is that it takes longer to reload, which can be dangerous in the late game.

What I used to make it

Alpha-Beta:

The game is written in Python 3.11 mainly using pygame for rendering and numpy for memory management. I used VScode to program the game and online tools to create the art and download the audio. I then used PyInstaller to convert the script into an exe.

Release:

The game is written in Python 3.12 using Pygame as a graphics and game engine. This version no longer supports Numpy, reducing the size of the exe. I used VSCode (IDLE) to program the game. I used online tools to create all the art and download the the audio. I then used PyInstaller to convert the Python script to a exe.

Install instructions

The game is now in the Beta release, so make sure that if you want to download it (would be amazing if you did) that you download the file named "RUN! Beta version". I have also kept the Alpha version up for anyone who wants to try the older version which is quite easier.  After downloading the file, de-zip the file. Then delete the zip. Now put the folder in whatever games folder you have. Now go into the folder, find the exe. Now right click on it and find the "create shortcut" button and create the shortcut. Now drag the shortcut to your desktop and you can now run my game. You will almost defintley be given a warning, if you are just ignore it. I swear my games not a virus or whatever, it's just that it's not a commonly ran game so windows gets scared. Just click the "more info" highlighted text, and then the "run anyway" button.

Once the final version is ready I will make the game open source for anyone who wants to view it.
